Video Virtual Tour
Down in the valley to the west of the reservoir lies a wooden bridge floating on
an old oxbow. Once home to the highly endangered Northern Leopard Frog, the
oxbow was hit hard by drought between 1999 and 2003.
Every year thousands of Calgary kids come here to learn about wetlands and the
politics of urban environment areas as part of the Society's education programs.
Unfortunately, the Nothern Leopard frog no longer lives here. Pesticide use and
global warming have both contributed to its extirpation from Calgary's famous
Weaselhead.
